Personal Growth and Development through Deer Hill’s Outdoor Programs
Introduction
This research study is being conducted by Dr. Curt Davidson at Alpenglow Education to understand the personal growth and development of participation in Deer Hill Outdoor Programs. Your child is selected as a possible subject because they are going to take part in this outdoor adventure program. We ask that you read this form and ask any questions you may have before agreeing to your child’s participation in the study.
Why was my child asked to be in this study?
Your child was asked to be in this research study because they have chosen to participate in a Deer Hill program this summer and we want to know how it affects their mental toughness.
What will happen during this research study?
We want to tell you about some things that might happen as a result of your child participating in this study. This study will take place at the end of their Deer Hill program. It should last for about 10 minutes, and will involve filling out a survey of 56 questions.
Are there any bad things that might happen as a result of this research study?
The risks of being in this study might be that your son or daughter will feel uncomfortable while filling out the survey. Or, something may happen that the researchers don’t know about yet. If something does arise, we will make sure that you made aware and you and your child are supported.
Are there any good things that might happen during the research study?
Sometimes there are benefits of being in a research study. The benefit of being in this study might be having a better idea of how the Deer Hill program has helped your child grow as a person. We don’t know for sure if you will have any benefits. We hope to learn something that will help other people someday.
Will I get money or payment for being in this research study?
You or your child will not get any money for being in this research study.

What if I don’t want my child to be in the study?
Participation in this study is strictly voluntary and this fact will also be made known to your child. No identifiable information that could link their answers back to them will be collected with this study. Additionally, no other aspects of their Deer Hill Program will be effected in any way.
