Consider staying at Deer Hill Basecamp at the start and/or end of your child’s expedition.
- Join us for dinner on Day 1 of your son or daughter’s expedition, stay in the Loft, and join us for breakfast the following morning.
- On the final night of your son or daughter’s expedition, join the group for their celebration cookout and slideshow, spend the night in the Loft, and enjoy breakfast the following morning.
$100 per night, per room, includes dinner and breakfast
Additional nights are $100 each, per room, no meals.

The Loft
The Loft is Deer Hill’s most comfortable guest accommodations. Designed with adults in mind, the Loft offers a spacious kitchen with gorgeous aspen cabinets, electric range and cookwear, coffee maker, microwave, sink and refrigerator. There is a dining area, and cozy living area, too. There are six bedrooms in the Loft, each with two twin beds, and there are four bathrooms with showers.
Just as Basecamp is the launch point for our participants, it can be yours as you explore Mesa Verde National Park, Canyon of the Ancients National Monument, or ride the narrow gauge railway through the forested mountains from Durango to Silverton. Deer Hill’s Basecamp is located on 130 acres of meadowland and pinion-juniper forest at the base of Menefee Mountain in the Mancos River Valley. Located 30 miles west of Durango, CO, and six miles from Mesa Verde National Park, the Mancos Valley has a long tradition of agriculture kept alive today in multigenerational ranches and small organic farms. Basecamp serves as a place for groups to prepare for and conclude their expeditions, as well as a place to hold retreats and conferences, and also as the site of our administrative offices.
